Originally a County Waterford native, Ivan has been living in the west of the Ireland both in Limerick and Clare with his wife Bronagh for almost 20 years.
In 1999 he obtained a degree in Fine Art - Printmaking from the Limerick School of Art and Design. During this time he was selected to represent the college in the International Student Exhibition at the Falmouth College of Art in Cornwall.
Over the subsequent years Ivan worked mostly in industry but has been involved periodically with the Limerick Printmakers (exhibiting more recently in 2011 in their Open Submission show) and with the Limerick Figure Drawing Society amoung other projects in theatre and local and group exhibitions.
In 2015, he was a contestant in the first Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year.
In the last few years Ivan has focused on painting, reviving a practice he used to supplement his printmaking. His paintings are borne from a reaction to his environment. Subjects of landscape and urban scenes are of places encountered and explored with intent on creating exciting compositions.
